Incorporating CALM into your Science Curriculum
ON-SITE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
CALM, California’s premier native zoo and garden, displays and interprets native California animals and plants to teach a respect for all living things through education recreation, conservation and research.
- Teachers are admitted free of charge. Preschool and Kindergarten classes need 1 adult chaperone per every 5 students. First grade through high school classes need 1 adult chaperone for every 10 students. Additional chaperones are welcomed. Teachers and chaperones MUST stay with the students at ALL times.
- Wildlife program is planned to meet the life science standards for your grade level.
- Meet Your WILD Neighbors is an interactive CD designed for students in grades 2-4.
- A ride on the CCCRR will take you out for a look over the Kern River and surrounding habitat. An additional 15 minutes is needed for each 60 students.
