Willow

Introducing Willow
We’ve waited many years for her.
We are proud to introduce Willow, a four-month-old female mountain lion, who came to us Father’s Day weekend.
Willow was found near Weed, California by the Department of Fish & Game and was one of three siblings—and the only survivor. Another mountain lion kitten will be joining Willow soon.
Shortly after her arrival at CALM, she was hospitalized for a few days at Animal Emergency and Urgent Care suffering from pneumonia. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Katy Ratliff, and her staff, who took great care of our precious new resident.
Willow made her media debut on July 15, and her public debut at Twilight at CALM on July 17. While she will not be on exhibit until her enclosure is finished, she will be available for public visitation, from 6-6:15 p.m., at each Twilight at CALM throughout the summer.
Willow is waiting for completion of her beautiful, state-of-the-art Mountain lion/Bobcat Exhibit that is scheduled to be finished by the end of the summer.
In 1983, a mountain lion named Whisker was CALM’s first resident. He was joined later by a female mountain lion named Sierra.
The exhibit is a project of the CALM Foundation with major donations from Dolores F. and Victor S. Cerro Trust and Diane Lake. Funding also came in the form of donations and proceeds from HolidayLights at CALM. Each ticket purchased for that event was an investment in our exhibit.
CALM Foundation President Greg Sanders said, "We’ve taken our time building the exhibit because our goal, as with all proactive zoos throughout the country, is to have our animals in environments that meet their needs and those of the public. I believe firmly that visitors will like this professionally-designed habitat, and they will embrace it for years to come."
Our thanks to this community for helping make this dream come true.
The lions have returned to CALM.
